Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) finished 4-4 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sluchinski defeated Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) 8-4, then won 12-10 against Shane Latimer (Iqaluit, NU). Sluchinski went on to lose 6-2 against Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS). Sluchinski lost 8-5 to Tyler Smith (Crapaud, PEI). Sluchinski lost 11-6 to Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) where Sluchinski responded with a 10-8 win over Jean-Michel Arsenault (Levis, QC). Sluchinski won 10-4 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Sluchinski went on to lose 10-4 against Brad Gushue (St.John's, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

Sluchinski earned 13.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 14th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 4.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Sluchinski ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 167.250 points earned so far this season.
