Mami Yamada/Yuuma Tanabe (Morioka, JPN) finished 2-4 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yamada/Tanabe lost 9-5 to Masami Kitamura/Tomokazu Kitamura (Okayama, JPN), droppimg another game, 9-3 to Yurika Yoshida/Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Yamada/Tanabe lost 9-3 to Japan's Mika Okuyama/Hiroto Naba where Yamada/Tanabe responded with a 8-2 win over Yu Yokoyama/Tsuyoshi Morimoto (Tokyo, JPN). Yamada/Tanabe went on to lose 8-2 against Satsuki Fujisawa/Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Kitami, JPN). Yamada/Tanabe responded with a 11-5 win over Japan's Yoko Miura/Shinichi Tokuyama in their final qualifying round match.

Yamada/Tanabe earned 1.875 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 30 of the event schedule, Yamada/Tanabe did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Yamada/Tanabe ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
