Yoshida/Shimizu finished 5-1 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yoshida/Shimizu defeated Japan's Arisa Funaki/Yuto Kamada 11-1, then went on to lose 9-8 against Chiaki Matsumura/Yasumasa Tanida (Nagano, JPN). Yoshida/Shimizu responded with a 8-4 win over Kohane Tsuruga/Takaaki Minami (Sapporo, JPN). Yoshida/Shimizu won 10-2 against Hinako Sonobe/Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 11-1 against Japan's Tamami Horiuchi/Takahito Tomiyasu and 11-0 against Yukari Ido/Takahiro Ido (Okayama, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Yoshida/Shimizu earned 7.500 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Japan Mixed Doubles National Championship. For week 30 of the event schedule, Yoshida/Shimizu did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Yoshida/Shimizu ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
