Nanae Shukuya/Koji Nisato (Hokkaido, JPN) finished 2-4 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shukuya/Nisato lost 12-7 to Misato Yanagisawa/Satoshi Koizumi (Karuizawa, JPN), droppimg another game, 8-4 to Michiko Tomabechi/Kenji Tomabechi (Hokkaido, JPN) where Shukuya/Nisato responded with a 12-2 win over Japan's Ai Kawata/Koki Takahara. Shukuya/Nisato went on to lose 7-4 against Junko Nishimuro/Satoru Tsukamoto (Karuizawa, JPN). Shukuya/Nisato lost 6-3 to Tori Koana/Go Aoki (Yamanashi, JPN) where Shukuya/Nisato responded with a 10-9 win over Yumiko Kashiwagi/Akira Otsuka (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Shukuya/Nisato earned 1.875 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 30 of the event schedule, Shukuya/Nisato did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Shukuya/Nisato ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
