CHAMPION: Martin/Laycock Wins 2023 Sask Curling Tour Mixed Doubles Midweek Kick-off

Nancy Martin/Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) won 6-4 over Sherry Just/Chad Gareau (Prince Albert, SK) in the Final of the Sask Curling Tour Mixed Doubles Midweek Kick-off, held September 17 - 21, 2023 at the Sutherland Curling Club in Saskatoon, . To advance to the championship game, Martin/Laycock won 8-5 over Melissa Remeshylo/Dylan Derksen (Martensville, SK) in the semifinals of the 2023 Sask Curling Tour Mixed Doubles Midweek Kick-off in Saskatoon;

Martin/Laycock finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin/Laycock defeated Renee Wood/Dominic Barlow (Saskatoon, SK) 6-3, then won 9-5 against Rianna Kish/Bryden Tessier (Saskatoon, SK) and 9-8 against Remeshylo/Derksen in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Sask Curling Tour Mixed Doubles Midweek Kick-off Championship title, Martin/Laycock earned 11.250 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 9 of the event schedule, Martin/Laycock did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 10th place on the World Ranking Standings with 155.627 total points. Martin/Laycock ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 19.126 points earned so far this season.
