Dropkin won 8-4 against Wesley Wendling (Wausau, WI), then won 7-2 against Daniel Casper (Chaska, MN) and 8-2 against Rich Ruohonen (Minneapolis, MN). Dropkin went on to lose 8-5 against Shuster in their final qualifying round match.
