Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) won 10-2 over Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the ADVICS Cup, held August 24 - 27, 2023 at the Tokoro Curling Club in Kitami, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Abe won 5-3 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2023 ADVICS Cup in Kitami, Japan, Japan; and won 5-3 over Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 ADVICS Cup in Kitami, Japan, Japan;
Abe finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Shunta Kobayashi (Sapporo, JPN) 8-4, then went on to lose 4-3 against Fukuhiro Ohno (Sapporo, JPN). Abe responded with a 4-3 win over Sato in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the ADVICS Cup Championship title, Abe earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $9,292CDN first prize cheque. Abe move up 6 spots after posting a net gain of 12.75 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 45th overall with 80.375 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Abe ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 24.000 points earned so far this season.
