Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) lost 6-5 to Bruce Mouat (STIRLING, SCO) in the Final of the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships, held November 18 - 25, 2023 at the Curl Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Edin won 7-6 over Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) in the semifinals of the 2024 Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships in Aberdeen, Scotland, Scotland;
Edin finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin lost 7-6 to Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE), then responded with a 8-5 win over Mouat. Edin won 8-3 against Kalle Kiiskinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Edin went on to lose 7-5 against Retornaz. Edin responded with a 10-5 win over Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR). Edin won 11-7 against Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED), then won 9-4 against Sixten Totzek (Füssen, GER). Edin went on to lose 6-3 against Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI). Edin responded with a 10-2 win over Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships, Edin take home 49.500 world rankings points, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 41.625 after improving upon their best so far this season. Edin ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 186.750 points earned so far this season.
