King finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, King defeated Cory Heggestad (Stroud, ON) 7-0, then went on to lose 8-1 against Andrin Schnider (Urdorf, SUI). King responded with a 6-2 win over Fraser Reid (Waterloo, ON). King won 6-2 against Smith in their final qualifying round match.
