Honoka Sasaki (Kitami, JPN) lost 7-5 to Beth Peterson (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Challenge, held September 8 - 10, 2023 at the St. Vital Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Sasaki won 7-1 over Penny Barker (Moose Jaw, SK) in the semifinals
 
Sasaki finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sasaki defeated Lisa McLeod (Winnipeg, MB) 6-5, then won 2-0 against Zhuo Han (HARBIN, CHN) and 5-4 against Barker in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the MCT Challenge, Sasaki take home 11.000 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN prize. Sasaki move up 7 spots after posting a net gain of 7.625 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 46th overall with 62.000 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Sasaki ranks 30th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.375 points earned so far this season.
