To advance to the championship game, Matsumura/Tanida won 10-6 over Tahli Gill/Dean Hewitt (Brisbane, AUS) in the semifinals of the 2023 Mixed Doubles Super Series - Sherwood Park in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada; and won 11-4 over Alyssa Nedohin/David Nedohin (Sherwood Park, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Matsumura/Tanida finished 5-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura/Tanida defeated Jaelyn Cotter/Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) 10-3, then won 10-3 against Ashley Kalk/Craig MacAlpine (Edmonton, AB) and 8-5 against Jenny Perret/Martin Rios (Glarus, SUI). Matsumura/Tanida won 8-5 against Therese Westman/Robin Ahlberg (Stockholm, SWE), then won 12-2 against Korea's Seojin Park/Hyeon Moon in their final qualifying round match.
