Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI) won 6-3 over Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) in the Final of the Oslo Cup, held August 31 - September 3, 2023 in Oslo, Norway. To advance to the championship game, Hoesli won 5-1 over Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2023 Oslo Cup in Oslo, Norway; and won 5-2 over Sweden's Fredrik Nyman in the quarterfinals.
Hoesli finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hoesli defeated Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE) 5-3, then won 7-6 against Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED) and 8-0 against Andreas Harstad (Oppdal, NOR). Hoesli won 8-5 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Oslo Cup Championship title, Hoesli earned 41.250 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque. Hoesli move up 6 spots after posting a net gain of 39 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 19th overall with 175.625 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Hoesli ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 45.750 points earned so far this season.
