Jussi Uusipaavalniemi (Hyvinkaa, FIN) finished 3-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Uusipaavalniemi lost 8-6 to Radek Zdarsky (Prague, CZE), droppimg another game, 5-4 to Stefan Van Dijck (Zemst, BEL) where Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 8-5 win over Poland's Damian Herman. Uusipaavalniemi went on to lose 9-8 against Gyorgy Nagy (Budapest, HUN). Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 7-6 win over Tamotsu Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN). Uusipaavalniemi went on to lose 7-3 against Howard Rajala (Ottawa, CAN). Uusipaavalniemi responded with a 10-4 win over Hans Peter Schack (Hvidovre, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.

Uusipaavalniemi ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
