Sam Steep (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) lost 7-5 to Jordan McNamara (Ottawa, ON) in the Final of the Capital Curling Valley Open, held November 3 - 5, 2023 in Carleton Place, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Steep won 5-4 over Jacob Lamb (Dundas, ON) in the semifinals   of the 2023 Capital Curling Valley Open in Carleton Place, Ontario; and won 5-4 over Colten Steele (Dartmouth, NS) in the quarterfinals.  of the 2023 Capital Curling Valley Open in Carleton Place, Ontario; 
 
Steep finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Steep defeated Bryan Cochrane (Russell, ON) 7-4, then won 7-5 against Jaimee Gardner (Ottawa, ON) and 10-1 against Laura Johnston (North Bay, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Capital Curling Valley Open, Steep take home 2.750 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN prize, remaining in 75th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 0.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Steep ranks 83rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.188 points earned so far this season.
