Andrew Dunbar (Edmonton, AB) lost 8-6 to Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Alberta Curling Series - Event 1, held October 13 - 15, 2023 at the Beaumont Curling Club in Beaumont, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Dunbar won 7-6 over Xueqing Fei (Beijing, CHN) in the semifinals
Dunbar finished 4-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dunbar defeated Adam Elsenheimer (Edmonton, AB) 6-4, then won 6-5 against Hirata and 7-6 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Dunbar won 7-5 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Curling Series - Event 1, Dunbar take home 5.500 world rankings points along with the $1,425CDN prize, moving up 13 spots the World Ranking Standings into 110th place overall with 28.059 total points. Dunbar ranks 97th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.688 points earned so far this season.
