After advancing directly to the championship game, Doug Dean (Thunder Bay, NO) lost 6-2 to Gil Dash (Moose Jaw, SK) in the Final of the Canadian Wheelchair Championship, held March 20 - 22, 2023 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
 
Dean finished 7-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dean defeated Dash 8-7, then won 8-5 against Paul Grose (Ilderton, ON) and 10-5 against Emma Nagel (Edmonton, AB). Dean won 7-4 against British Columbia's Gerry Austgarden, then won 7-1 against Mike Fitzgerald (Saint John, NB) and 9-4 against Jon Thurston (Schomberg, ON). Dean won 8-7 against Quebec's Benoit Lessard. Dean went on to lose 7-4 against Jack Smart (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Dean ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
