Marin Callaghan (Halifax, NS) lost 5-4 to Serena Gray-Withers (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the USPORT Curling Canada University Championships, held March 15 - 19, 2023 in Sudbury, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Callaghan won 10-6 over Bella Croisier (Sudbury, ON) in the semifinals
Callaghan finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Callaghan defeated Maddy Warriner (Hamilton, ON) 9-5, then went on to lose 6-4 against Kayla Wilson (Victoria, BC). Callaghan responded with a 7-2 win over Courtney Auld (Toronto, ON). Callaghan went on to lose 5-4 against Croisier. Callaghan responded with a 9-5 win over Gray-Withers. Callaghan went on to lose 9-2 against Mackenzie Mitchell (St.John's, NL). Callaghan responded with a 11-4 win over Rachel MacLean (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the USPORT Curling Canada University Championships, Callaghan take home 8.250 world rankings points. For week 33 of the event schedule, Callaghan did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Callaghan ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
