Ellis/Newson won 7-6 against Mollie Shaw/Luke Butler (Montague, PEI), then won 6-5 against Tammy Dewar/Nick Blanchard (Montague, PEI) and 8-6 against Lauren MacFayden/Alex MacFayden (Summerside, PEI). Ellis/Newson went on to lose 8-1 against Jenny White/Ed White (Summerside, PEI). Ellis/Newson lost 9-7 to Robyn MacDonald/Philip MacDonald (Montague, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Ellis/Newson earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
