Advancing directly to the semifinals, Sturmay won 5-3 over Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK) to advance to the championship game. of the 2023 SGI Canada Best of the West in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;
Sturmay finished 4-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Matthew McCrady (New Westminster , BC) 8-7, then won 6-4 against Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK) and 7-6 against Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay won 7-2 against Kody Hartung (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the SGI Canada Best of the West Championship title, Sturmay earned 22.500 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 17th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 7.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Sturmay ranks 17th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 168.250 points earned so far this season.
