Michael Brunner (Bern, SUI) lost 7-4 to Yannick Schwaller (Geneve, SUI) in the Final of the Swiss Curling Championships, held February 11 - 18, 2023 in Geneve-Thonex, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Brunner won 8-5 over Jan Hess (Zug, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2023 Swiss Curling Championships in Geneve-Thonex, Switzerland;
Brunner finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Brunner lost 7-2 to Schwaller, then responded with a 9-5 win over Andrin Schnider (Schaffhausen, SUI). Brunner won 5-2 against Manuel Jermann (Basel, SUI), then won 9-6 against Christian Bangerter (Bern, SUI) and 6-5 against Jan Iseli (Solothun-Biel, SUI). Brunner won 6-5 against Hess, then won 5-3 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Swiss Curling Championships, Brunner take home 30.250 world rankings points. Brunner move up 11 spots after posting a net gain of 25.75 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 22nd overall with 138.186 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
