Abe finished 6-2 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Ryo Ogihara (Tokyo, JPN) 10-4, then won 8-7 against Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN) and 13-4 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Abe won 8-2 against Takanori Ichimura (Nagano, JPN). Abe went on to lose 9-6 against Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN). Abe responded with a 8-2 win over Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN). Abe won 10-6 against Yoshioka. Abe went on to lose 6-5 against Hirata in their final qualifying round match.

Abe earned 14.875 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the ZEH-NOH Japan Curling Championship. Abe move up 17 spots after posting a net gain of 7.746 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 56th overall with 63.505 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
