In their opening game, Rhyme/Smith lost 10-3 to Rebecca Hamilton/Matt Hamilton (McFarland, WI), then responded with a 7-2 win over Regan Birr/Todd Birr (Ham Lake, MN). Rhyme/Smith won 13-3 against Melissa Fountain/Tony Kot (Lafayette, CO). Rhyme/Smith went on to lose 5-4 against Clare Moores/Lance Wheeler (Golden, CO). Rhyme/Smith responded with a 9-4 win over Harley Rohrbacher/Vincent Scebbi (Cleveland, OH). Rhyme/Smith went on to lose 9-6 against Aileen Geving/John Shuster (Duluth, MN). Rhyme/Smith lost 8-6 to Vicky Persinger/Christopher Plys (Fairbanks, AK) in their final qualifying round match.

Rhyme/Smith earned 6.750 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 31 of the event schedule, Rhyme/Smith did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Rhyme/Smith ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
