Tyler Smith (Charlottetown, PEI) won 6-0 over Stuart Thompson (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Superstore Monctonian Challenge, held December 9 - 11, 2022 in Moncton, New Brunswick. To advance to the championship game, Smith won 6-3 over James Grattan (Oromocto, NB) in the semifinals of the 2022 Superstore Monctonian Challenge in Moncton, New Brunswick; and won 5-4 over Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) in the quarterfinals.
Smith finished 2-2 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith lost 8-5 to Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS), then responded with a 5-3 win over Travis Colter (Halifax, NS). Smith went on to lose 5-4 against Bryce Everist (Halifax, NS). Smith responded with a 9-2 win over Liam Marin (Saint John, NB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Superstore Monctonian Challenge Championship title, Smith earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 19 of the event schedule, Smith did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Smith ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
