Schmidt went on to lose 5-2 against Jasmin Gibeau (Buckingham, QC). Schmidt lost 7-5 to Greg Balsdon (Richmond Hill, ON) where Schmidt responded with a 6-3 win over Jeff Lacey (Saint John, NB). Schmidt won 8-7 against Wade Scoffin (Whitehorse, YK) in their final qualifying round match.
