Steve Irwin (Brandon, MB) won 7-4 over Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Championships, held December 9 - 11, 2022 at the Heather Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Irwin won 1-0 over Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2022 MCT Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
Irwin finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Irwin defeated Steen Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB) 8-3, then went on to lose 9-6 against Calvert. Irwin responded with a 1-0 win over Ryan Thomson (Winnipeg, MB). Irwin won 8-2 against Riley Smith (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the MCT Championships Championship title, Irwin earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $1,600CDN first prize cheque. For week 19 of the event schedule, Irwin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Irwin ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
