Neil/McDonald Runner-Up at 2022 St. Thomas Mixed Doubles Classic

Laura Neil/Scott McDonald (St. Thomas, ON) lost 8-4 to Laurie St-Georges/Felix Asselin (Montreal, QC) in the Final of the St. Thomas Mixed Doubles Classic, held December 16 - 18, 2022 at the St. Thomas Curling Club in St. Thomas, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Neil/McDonald won 7-4 over Sarah Bailey/Dylan Sipura (St. Catharines, ON) in the semifinals of the 2022 St. Thomas Mixed Doubles Classic in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada; and won 8-6 over Mackenzie Kiemele/Graham Singer (Toronto, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 St. Thomas Mixed Doubles Classic in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada;

Neil/McDonald finished 4-1 in the 22-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Neil/McDonald defeated Gina Kim/Tim Luu (Toronto, ON) 8-1, then won 11-1 against Harley Rohrbacher/Vincent Scebbi (Cleveland, OH) and 6-2 against Grace Lloyd/Landan Rooney (Mississauga, ON). Neil/McDonald went on to lose 8-2 against Lyndsey Wilson/Scott Dow (Palmerston , ON). Neil/McDonald responded with a 8-6 win over Katie Cottrill/Shawn Cottrill (Belgrave, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the St. Thomas Mixed Doubles Classic, Neil/McDonald take home 16.500 world rankings points along with the $1,200CDN prize, dropping 175 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 723rd place overall with 26.300 total points. Neil/McDonald ranks 77th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 16.500 points earned so far this season.
