Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON) won 7-2 over Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the U25 NextGen Classic, held August 31 - September 3, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Mooibroek won 10-0 over Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2022 U25 NextGen Classic in Edmonton, Alberta;
 
Mooibroek finished 4-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek defeated Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, AB) 6-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Jacques Gauthier (Victoria, BC). Mooibroek responded with a 7-2 win over Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB). Mooibroek won 6-3 against Nathan Young (St. John's, NL), then won 7-2 against Jordan Peters (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the U25 NextGen Classic Championship title, Mooibroek earned 22.500 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 31 spots the World Ranking Standings into 42nd place overall with 60.591 total points. Mooibroek ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.500 points earned so far this season.
