Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) won 5-4 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 16 - 18, 2022 in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Yanagisawa won 10-3 over John Shuster (Duluth, MN) in the semifinals of the 2022 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan;

Yanagisawa finished 2-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yanagisawa defeated Chang-Min Kim (Gyeongbuk, KOR) 9-2, then won 5-2 against Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN). Yanagisawa went on to lose 8-7 against Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Yanagisawa earned 18.750 world rankings points along with the $8,035CDN first prize cheque. For week 20 of the event schedule, Yanagisawa did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 31st place on the World Ranking Standings with 111.743 total points. Yanagisawa ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 102.750 points earned so far this season.
