Eduard Nikolov (Kyiv, UKR) finished 1-4 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nikolov lost 7-3 to Dean Huerlimann (Zug, SUI), then responded with a 6-3 win over Margus Tubalkain (Tallinn, EST). Nikolov went on to lose 7-2 against James Craik (Stirling, SCO). Nikolov lost 6-4 to Ansis Regza (Riga, LAT). Nikolov lost 7-2 to Fredrik Nyman (Solleftea, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Nikolov earned 1.125 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 9 of the event schedule, Nikolov did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
