Abe finished 3-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Hiroyuki Honda (Kitami, JPN) 14-2, then won 9-5 against Japan's Ryo Aoki and 9-4 against Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the ADVICS Cup, Abe take home 8.250 world rankings points along with the $4,550CDN prize, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 60th place overall with 51.778 total points. Abe ranks 43rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 9.000 points earned so far this season.
