Sato finished 4-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sato defeated Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) 3-2, then won 6-2 against Japan's Toa Nakahara and 4-2 against Naomasa Takeda (Hokkaido, JPN). Sato won 7-4 against Japan's Kotaro Noguchi in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the ADVICS Cup Championship title, Sato earned 11.250 world rankings points along with the $9,101CDN first prize cheque. Sato move up 41 spots after posting a net gain of 10.5 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 98th overall with 24.244 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Sato ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.250 points earned so far this season.
