To advance to the championship game, Maeda won 7-6 over Japan's Juon Ishimura in the semifinals of the 2022 Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup in Hokkaido, Japan;
 
Maeda finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Maeda defeated Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) 7-6, then won 7-4 against Japan's Kotaro Noguchi and 9-5 against Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup Championship title, Maeda earned 15.000 world rankings points along with the $1,000,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 3 of the event schedule, Maeda did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Maeda ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
