Mayu Minami (Sapporo, JPN) lost 5-4 to Sayaka Yoshimura (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic, held August 4 - 7, 2022 at the Hokkaido Bank Curling Stadium in Sapporo, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Minami won 7-6 over Ikue Kitazawa (Nagano, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2022 Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic in Sapporo, Japan;
Minami finished 1-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Minami defeated Honoka Sasaki (Kitami, JPN) 6-4, then went on to lose 5-3 against Seungyoun Ha (Chuncheon, KOR). Minami lost 7-2 to Momoha Tabata (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic, Minami take home 13.750 world rankings points along with the $4,749CDN prize. For week 1 of the event schedule, Minami did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Minami ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
