To advance to the championship game, Walstad won 10-4 over Lukas Hostmaelingen (Lillehammer, NOR) in the semifinals of the 2022 Norwegian Mens Curling Championship in Trondheim, Norway;
Walstad finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated Johnny Sandaker (Christianssand, NOR) 8-2, then won 13-1 against Anders Mjoen (Oppdal, NOR) and 9-3 against Magnus Nedregotten (Lillehammer, NOR). Walstad won 8-1 against Eirik Oey (Oslo, NOR). Walstad went on to lose 8-4 against Ramsfjell in their final qualifying round match.
