Nathan Young (St. John's, NL) lost 10-9 to Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the Canadian Junior World Qualifier, held November 23 - 28, 2021 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Young won 5-4 over Scott Mitchell (Whitby, ON) in the semifinals of the 2022 Canadian Junior World Qualifier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and won 7-2 over Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 Canadian Junior World Qualifier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;
 
Young finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Young defeated Connor Deane (New Westminster, BC) 7-6, then won 14-3 against Jullian Bowling (Yellowknife, NT). Young went on to lose 9-3 against Purcell. Young responded with a 8-1 win over Raphael Patry (Jonquiere, QC). Young won 8-7 against Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Canadian Junior World Qualifier, Young take home 18.288 world rankings points, moving up 37 spots the World Ranking Standings into 111th place overall with 36.654 total points. Young ranks 71st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 32.013 points earned so far this season.
