Japan's Shizuko Funaki lost 8-2 to Japan's Miori Nakamura in the Final of the Tohuku Curling Championships, held January 8 - 10, 2022 in Tohoku, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Japan's Shizuko Funaki won 9-3 over Japan's Arisa Funaki in the semifinals

Japan's Shizuko Funaki finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Japan's Shizuko Funaki defeated Japan's Natsuko Suzuki 10-8, then won 15-4 against Japan's Saki Adachi and 6-4 against Japan's Mei Shimohori in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Tohuku Curling Championships, Japan's Shizuko Funaki take home 3.300 world rankings points, moving up 108 spots the World Ranking Standings into 187th place overall with 3.300 total points.
