Eddy Mercier (Lyon, FRA) finished 3-4 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mercier lost 5-4 to James Pougher (Deeside, WAL), droppimg another game, 4-3 to Mathias Genner (Kitzbuehel, AUT) where Mercier responded with a 6-4 win over Slovakia's Pavol Pitonak. Mercier went on to lose 8-3 against Andrew Woolston (Kent, ENG). Mercier lost 8-3 to Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR) where Mercier responded with a 7-6 win over Reto Seiler (Sofia, BUL). Mercier won 8-1 against Slovenia's Jure Culic in their final qualifying round match.

Mercier earned 4.008 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 39 spots the World Ranking Standings into 224th place overall with 8.378 total points. Mercier ranks 192nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.706 points earned so far this season.
