Joel Retornaz (Pinerolo, ITA) lost 7-4 to Sixten Totzek (Munich, GER) in the Final of the Aberdeen International Curling Championship, held March 17 - 20, 2022 in Aberdeen, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Retornaz won 8-2 over Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR) in the semifinals of the 2022 Aberdeen International Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland;
 
Retornaz finished 5-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated David Sik (Prague, CZE) 8-3, then won 5-4 against Andreas Harstad (Oppdal, NOR) and 8-1 against Ramsfjell. Retornaz won 8-4 against James Craik (Stirling, SCO), then won 5-1 against Benny Kapp (Fuessen, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Aberdeen International Curling Championship, Retornaz take home 20.589 world rankings points along with the $2,480CDN prize, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 14th place overall with 183.915 total points.
