Purcell finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Purcell defeated Smith 7-1, then won 7-5 against Alex Smith (St. John's, NL) and 8-3 against Gary Oke (Corner Brook, NL). Purcell won 8-1 against Sean O'Leary (St. John's, NL), then won 5-4 against Ryan McNeil Lamswood (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Bally Haly Cash Spiel Championship title, Purcell earned 14.756 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 57 spots the World Ranking Standings into 114th place overall with 27.959 total points. Purcell ranks 76th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.146 points earned so far this season.
