Barone2-4 at 2021 Olympic Mixed Doubles Qualification Event

Daina Barone (Riga, LAT) finished 2-4 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Barone lost 8-3 to Oona Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN), droppimg another game, 8-2 to Chiaki Matsumura (Nagano, JPN) where Barone responded with a 9-8 win over Marie Kaldvee (Tallinn, EST). Barone won 9-0 against Mhairi-Bronte Duncan (Naseby, NZL). Barone went on to lose 10-3 against Vicky Persinger (Fairbanks, USA). Barone lost 9-7 to Minji Kim (Gangwon-do, KOR) in their final qualifying round match.

Barone earned 6.220 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 778th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 5.149 after improving upon their best so far this season. Barone ranks 62nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 25.021 points earned so far this season.
