Joel Retornaz (Pinerolo, ITA) finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated SooHyuk Kim (Uiseong, KOR) 7-3, then won 9-5 against Kalle Kiiskinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN) and 6-5 against Mikkel Krause (Hvidovre, DEN). Retornaz won 7-6 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Retornaz went on to lose 5-4 against Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR). Retornaz responded with a 7-2 win over Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Retornaz won 9-4 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN), then won 11-4 against Sixten Totzek (Munich, GER) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Olympic Qualification Event, Retornaz take home 39.188 world rankings points. Retornaz move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 25.499 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 193.401 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
