Kim lost 10-2 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN) where Kim responded with a 10-4 win over Sixten Totzek (Munich, GER). Kim went on to lose 8-7 against Wouter Gosgens (Zoetermeer, NED) in their final qualifying round match.
