Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS) lost 9-6 to Alexey Stukalskiy (St. Petersburg, RUS) in the Final of the Moscow Classic, held February 2 - 7, 2022 in Moscow, Russia. To advance to the championship game, Timofeev won 6-3 over Mikhail Vaskov (Dmitrov, RUS) in the semifinals of the 2022 Moscow Classic in Moscow, Russia;

Timofeev finished 3-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Timofeev defeated Aleksandr Burdakov (Moscow, RUS) 8-3, then won 6-2 against Vadim Raev (Moscow, RUS). Timofeev went on to lose 8-3 against Stukalskiy. Timofeev lost 6-5 to Fredrik Nyman (SolletfeÃ¥, SWE) where Timofeev responded with a 9-3 win over Alexey Filippov (Dmitrov, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Moscow Classic, Timofeev take home 9.662 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN prize. For week 28 of the event schedule, Timofeev did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 152nd place on the World Ranking Standings with 18.893 total points. Timofeev ranks 152nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 12.705 points earned so far this season.
