Smeltzer finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smeltzer defeated Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) 7-6, then won 9-0 against Manuel. Smeltzer went on to lose 8-4 against James Grattan (Oromocto, NB). Smeltzer responded with a 7-5 win over Tyler Smith (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Smeltzer earned 10.469 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Superstore Monctonian Challenge, moving up 45 spots the World Ranking Standings into 128th place overall with 22.227 total points. Smeltzer ranks 72nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.894 points earned so far this season.
