In their opening game, Walstad lost 7-2 to Yves Stocker (Glarus, SUI), then responded with a 5-1 win over Dean Huerlimann (Zug, SUI). Walstad went on to lose 6-5 against Luca Rizzolli (Trentino, ITA). Walstad responded with a 10-4 win over Pascal Matti (Gstaad, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
