To advance to the championship game, Appelman won 7-6 over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2022 Alberta Boston Pizza Cup in Grande Prairie, Alberta;
Appelman finished 5-2 in the 11-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Jeff Reich (Fort McMurray, AB) 8-7, then went on to lose 7-5 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB). Appelman responded with a 6-3 win over Evan van Amsterdam (Calgary, AB). Appelman won 12-7 against Parker Konschuh (Calgary, AB). Appelman went on to lose 9-6 against Sturmay. Appelman responded with a 10-1 win over Reich to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 9-3 against Scott Webb (Sexsmith, AB) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
