To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 9-3 over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, CAN) in the semifinals of the 2022 Tim Hortons Brier in Lethbridge, Alberta;
Gushue finished 8-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Michael Fournier (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC) 9-3, then won 8-1 against Peter Mackey (Iqaluit, NU) and 8-7 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). Gushue won 8-3 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT), then won 9-6 against Mike McEwen (West St. Paul, MB) and 10-4 against Paul Flemming (Halifax, NS). Gushue won 6-5 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Morris, MB), then won 8-7 against Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
