In their opening game, Shen lost 8-1 to Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, PA), then responded with a 6-4 win over Darryl Horsman (Phoenix, AZ). Shen went on to lose 9-6 against Jacques Gauthier (Victoria, BC). Shen lost 5-3 to Reid Carruthers (Morris, MB). Shen lost 9-4 to Elliott Mansell (Denver, CO) in their final qualifying round match.
