Yamaguchi finished 6-2 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Yamaguchi defeated Ryutaro Tani (Hokkaido, JPN) 7-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Morozumi. Yamaguchi responded with a 8-2 win over Yuya Takigahira (Nayoro, JPN). Yamaguchi went on to lose 10-4 against Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN). Yamaguchi responded with a 8-6 win over Kantaro Kawano (Sapporo, JPN). Yamaguchi won 9-2 against Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN), then won 9-3 against Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN) and 8-2 against Kotaro Noguchi (Miyagi, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Yamaguchi earned 17.328 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Japan National Championship. For week 30 of the event schedule, Yamaguchi did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Yamaguchi ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
