Krysta Burns (Sudbury, NONT) lost 6-5 to Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, NONT) in the Final of the Northern Ontario Scotties Championship, held January 29 - February 2, 2020 in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Burns won 7-5 over Laura Johnston (North Bay, NONT) in the semifinals of the 2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Championship in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario;
Burns finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Burns defeated Abby Deschene (Sudbury, NONT) 9-5, then won 10-6 against Johnston and 9-6 against Mandy Gebhardt (New Liskeard, NONT). Burns went on to lose 9-4 against McCarville. Burns responded with a 8-3 win over Camille Daly (Sudbury, NONT). Burns won 8-1 against Bella Croisier (Sudbury, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Northern Ontario Scotties Championship, Burns take home 4.125 world rankings points. Burns move up 23 spots after posting a net gain of 1.635 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 187th overall with 5.517 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Burns ranks 187th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.517 points earned so far this season.
